(History Channel’s Forged In Fire Champion of Championss and Judge)

In this episode we are going to give everyone some out right inspirations and a few tips from one of the blade worlds most recognized personalities.  We are super excited to have with us today Ben Abbott.  For those in the fired arts world who have not yet been introduced to Mr. Ben Abbott let me just take a minute to bring you up to speed.  Ben is a two time History Channel, Forged in Fire champion.  The first was season 2, episode 9 “the Khanda Sword”, and the second was in season three on the Champions of Champions episode.  After demonstrating his superb competency, and a tremendous on camera personality, he was invited back to be a judge on the show.  Ben has spent many years making knives, tools, ornamental ironwork, jewelry, furniture and Ben also operates out of his own forge, Ashgrove forge, where he makes many custom items, and you can contact him directly to order your next custom knife.

Three questions that uncovers some of Ben’s best advice.

  • What’ the one rule you don’t break you just break up against it?
  • What’s something you learned in the last few years that surprised you?
  • What’s the one tool, brand and model, that you can’t work without?

I have often heard it said that we drink from a well we didn’t dig.  It at least appears to me that getting into knife making is much easier today that it was when you were 13.  I think it could be said of you that you have dug a well that other drink from and now enjoy a much easier path to their success.
