This year is under way and with one month down we are going to take a look at our goal progress by using the S.M.A.R.T. filter, convince you how important a goal sheet is and discuss how goal stacking can greatly enhance your platform.
Tabitha, at the beginning of the year I usually spend some time reviewing my goals from the previous years and setting some new ones for the year to come. One of my biggest problems is that I suffer from “Shinny Object Syndrome”. So, part of my planning involves weeding out goals that just aren’t right for me and reframing those that I just couldn’t get traction with.
One of the best ways to do this is to use the S.M.A.R.T filter. (Specific, Measurable, Action-oriented, Realistic, and Time-bound).
S – Specific
M – Measurable
A – Action oriented
R – Realistic
T – Time bound
“Easy Analogy – Running”
Run two half marathons by the end of the year.
Once you have your goal stated you need to write it down and have a way to measure your progress. This is where a goal sheet come in handy. One of the best I have every used is in Michael Hyatt’s book “Best Year Ever”.
As you begin to set some goals for your year look for some of those areas or domains that you may never specialize in but stacked together with the sills you have give you a real edge.
